So Thomas and I rent a space in a converted warehouse in the Mission
to work in. Aside from being cold, it’s great — cheap, close to good
food, easy parking and public transit. The problem is the network.
It’s not that the setup is slow (it’s not), or that it’s expensive
(it’s not); it’s not even that the hardware is a hideous
anxiety-provoking rat-king of cabling and
superfluous switches.
No, the problem is that if anybody in the building logs into Windows Messenger, the whole stinking network goes tits-up. What are the hell? How is that even possible?
